Bagless, corded upright vacuums collect dirt, dust, and debris in their dirt cup or chamber for disposal. The see-through chamber shows the level of debris, so it can be cleared out when full to prevent reduced suction or an overheated motor. It's typically emptied outdoors to prevent collected dust and allergens from recirculating indoors. The chamber also allows small items (such as jewelry or toys) to be recovered from the collected debris.
