Help: order splits
What is an order split?
Imperial uses the concept of a backup DCs (Distribution Centers) for order fulfillment. This means that your order can be filled from a primary distribution center, one or more secondary distribution centers, or, in the case of "drop ship" items, it can be drop shipped from a vendor direct to your location. This staging of inventory allows Imperial to keep prices down by stocking only the most often ordered items in our remote DCs. If you see "item will split" on an order, then the item in question cannot be filled completely from the stock at the primary DC.
The primary DC is always the closest DC to your location. When an item falls to a secondary DC, the shipping costs for that item will rise in relation to the distance from your location. While we do our best to stock products in the remote DCs, there will be times when we cannot fill an item completely out of the primary DC, depending on demand and stocking levels.
