NOTE: Non woven abrasives are inert products, which do not cause risks when
correctly stored or handled. During the use, in case they are fixed on machine
tools, special care has to be taken to protect the users.
During the use most abrasive dust particles come from the abrasive material
which is being converted and from the cooling liquid, if any, so that special
attention has to be given particularly to the features of the abrasive
material and to the cooling agent (if any), providing, where necessary, the
right protections and exhausters.
1. PRODUCT NAME
NAME OF PRODUCT: SURFACE CONDITIONING
2. COMPOSITION/INFORMATION ON COMPONENTS
2.1 Abrasive material: Corundum (CAS 1344-28-1 contents 0-70%) or silicon
carbide (CAS 409-21-2 contents 0-70%) applied on non woven plastic cloth and
on cotton or polyester cloth by resin.
2.2 Adhesive: Polymerized synthetic resin.
3. HAZARDS
NOT APPLICABLE: According to EEC Regulations converted abrasives are not
dangerous products.
4. FIRST HELP
The following advices are basic rules during the use of coated abrasives and
have to be completed by the information given in the security sheets of the
abrasive material and of the cooling liquid, if any.
4.1- Eye contact: Avoid exposure. Irrigate immediately
and plentifully with water.
Immediately consult a physician.
4.2-Skin contact: Wash the surface with soap and water.
4.3-Inhalation: Avoid exposure. In case of symptoms
remove to fresh air. If symptoms
persist consult a physician.
4.4-Ingestion: In case of ingestion no first help is
necessary.
5. FIRE-FIGHTING PROCEDURES
5.1 Suitable fire-fighting equipments
Water. Carbonic anhydride. Dry
chemical. Foam.
5.2 Fire-fighting procedure.
Wear a complete protection outfit: cap with visor and neck protection,
self-respirator on pressure or demand, fire-proof jacket and trousers with
band around arms, legs and waist.

7. HANDLING AND STORAGE
Stock at controlled temperature and humidity to prevent from damages causing
breakage.

10. STABILITY AND REACTIVITY
10.1 Avoid following conditions: excessive heat or humidity.
10.2 Avoid following materials: strong acids, strong basis and oxidizing
concentrates can modify the features of the product, particularly the adhesive
and create safety risks when the wheels are used on machines.
10.3 Hazardous decomposition products: carbon oxide and dioxide.
10.4 Stability and reactivity: stable. It does not polymerize dangerously.
11. TOXICOLOGY INFORMATION
11.1 Eye contact.
Mechanical irritation of eyes: symptoms can include irritation, reddening,
cornea abrasion and watering. Dusts arising from use can cause eyes
inflammation.
11.2 Skin Contact.
Mechanical skin irritation: symptoms can include itches and erythem.
11.3 Inhalation,
Irritation (upper respiratory section): symptoms can include nose ache and
throat ache, cough, sneezing. Dusts arising during use can cause irritation of
respiratory system.
11.4 Ingestion:
Ingestion is not a probable way of exposure to this product.
11.5 Other toxicologic information.
Health hazards derive from the material that is grinded.
12. ECOLOGIC INFORMATION
12.1 Motion: When coated abrasives are being used, fragments are easily
retained on fixed machines or by way of suitable protections when used on
portable machines.
12.2 Persistence and biodegradation property: not biodegradable.
12.3 Potential of bioaccumulation: Not applicable.
12.4 Ecotoxicity data: Information not available. Use according to good
working procedure, avoiding to scatter the product in the environment.
